Visitors can now enjoy worry-free wild swimming on the Islands of Guernsey with a swathe of new data-led updates
September 2023 – VisitGuernsey has released a brand-new update to its free visitor app, designed to help travellers make the most of their trip to the Islands.
The exciting and innovative new ‘Sea Swimming’ feature has been introduced to help visitors and locals make the most of the Islands’ renowned wild swimming spots. The app includes the option for users to create their own visitor profile, where they can upload photos, tips and comments to help other swimmers. This will be moderated by VisitGuernsey and will also inform further development of the app based on user data and needs. The ‘Sea Swimming’ section includes the below features, designed to make a wild swim accessible and exciting for visitors:
- Current swimming data (including temperatures and tides)
- Swim difficulty ratings
- Ease of access rating
- Best swim times for a particular day
- Live weather updates
- Listed facilities nearby (such as refreshments and toilets)
- ‘Great Right Now’ (a recommendation for the perfect swim based on current weather and tide conditions)
With miles of stunning coastline, the azure waters of the Islands of Guernsey are the perfect spot for novice and experienced wild swimmers alike. Surrounded by jaw-dropping scenery, visitors will encounter many peaceful coves and natural pools to be enjoyed all year round. Travellers looking for a secluded sea swim might opt to take a dip in Venus Pool (a natural pool on the tiny, car-free island of Sark), whereas visitors looking for more of a challenge might choose to plunge into the waters of Moulin Huet Bay or Fermain Bay, before enjoying a coffee and a bite to eat at one of the Islands’ many coastal kiosks.
The free VisitGuernsey app can be downloaded from all major app stores.
