The “help you home” app
The wonderful world of travel can be an exciting escape into the unfamiliar.
For many, however, travelling to unknown places, alone or with company, can be daunting: What if I get lost? What if my phone dies? What if I need help and can’t speak the language?
That’s where Help You Home comes in — a groundbreaking travel safety app created by Northern Ireland’s own Grainne Bankhead, turning anxiety into assurance for travellers across the globe.
Born From Experience, Built for Peace of Mind
After experiencing vulnerability in a foreign place first-hand, Grainne knew something had to change. Her solution? A travel safety companion that combines powerful technology with simple, user-friendly tools.
“Travel should be exciting, not overwhelming,” she explains. “I wanted something that would make people feel safe without adding to the stress of planning a trip.”
The result is Help You Home, a sleek, intuitive mobile app paired with an *NFC-enabled wristband that gives users instant access to help — wherever they are in the world.
*NFC stands for Near Field Communication. Essentially, NFC enables electronic devices to establish two-way radio communication with each other using complementary technologies, such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
How It Works
Whether you’re in Tokyo, Toronto, or just touching down in Tenerife, Help You Home keeps safety simple:

It’s a lifeline in your pocket — and on your wrist.

- 84% of UK residents travelled abroad last year — with 18–24s leading the charge
- 69% of UK women say safety fears prevent them from travelling alone
- Top concerns include getting lost, mugging, and phone theft
With more than 3.2 million 18–24-year-olds and 3.8 million female solo travellers taking off each year, Help You Home offers a layer of confidence and feeling of safety to the traveller themselves and their loved ones back home.
