Spain’s oldest golf course on Gran Canaria

The Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas has the honour of being the oldest golf course in Spain. Founded in 1891 in the northeast of the island of Gran Canaria, its layout was redesigned and relocated in 1957 by the famous architect Mackenzie Ross, who used the Bandama Caldera as his backdrop. Its unique location, on the edge of the crater of an extinct volcano, offers visitors views of the island’s peaks, the sea and the nearby cliffs.

Costa Teguise Golf, located to the east of Lanzarote, has been described by world champion Severiano Ballesteros as the best course in the Canary Islands in terms of design. Created in 1978 by professional golfer John Harris, it slopes down the side of an ancient volcano and is decorated with volcanic lava, cacti, and palm trees. Its views of the Atlantic Ocean and ideal weather conditions mean you can play golf there at any time of year.
