Just over one in ten (11%) say they take at least £1,000 worth of gadgets on holiday with them, and a fifth (20%) take at least three high-cost electrical gadgets on holiday, according to a new Opinium survey1 of 1,000 holidaymakers, by Multitrip.com, a specialist travel insurance provider.
One in ten (12%) admit to taking high value jewellery, and one in ten (9%) say their children take high value electronics with them.
Concerningly, one in four (26%) mistakenly believes that all travel insurance includes cover for gadgets, and another one in four (25%) don’t know.
Christian Bennett at Multitrip.com said: Gadgets are an essential part of people’s travelling kit, whether it’s smartphones, tablets, games consoles for the kids, wireless headphones and laptops. The value of all these gadgets can easily exceed the protection offered by most standard travel insurance policies, and some gadgets like mobile phones are often not included.
