E-Bike Vacations in Sustainable Hotels: An Eco-Friendly Way to Travel

More and More People are using E-Bikes on Vacation
According to this study by the Tourism Network Brandenburg, the e-bike has established itself as a means of transportation for vacation trips.
About 29% of the respondents said that they had used an e-bike during their last vacation. More and more travelers are recognizing the advantages of the electric bike and see it as a comfortable way to explore unknown areas.
Above all, they appreciate the flexibility and comfort that electric bikes offer. They make it possible for less experienced cyclists or older people to cover long distances and climb steep hills. But even fit travelers enjoy covering longer distances comfortably and with less effort, while actively enjoying the outdoors.
The study also shows that e-bikers are increasingly looking for sustainable hotels with the appropriate infrastructure and services. E-bike rental, charging stations, and secure bike parking have become a key factor in their choice of accommodation.

The Green Pearls® accommodations, with their focus on sustainable tourism, have responded to this trend. E-bike vacationers will find a variety of options that allow them to fully enjoy their surroundings while protecting the environment and keeping the CO2 emissions of their trip low.
E-Biking in South Tyrol
E-bike tourism is on the rise in mountain destinations like South Tyrol. The region offers many varied e-bike tours through picturesque landscapes and charming villages. The APIPURA hotel rinner on the Ritten, the LA VIMEA vegan hotel in Naturno, and the Hotel My Arbor near Brixen all offer their guests e-bikes and additional services such as secure parking (some with video surveillance and chip card access) and charging stations.

The Hotel Weihrerhof (also on the Ritten) complements this offer with a comprehensive service for cyclists: guests can rent e-bikes directly at the hotel and get access to detailed bike maps, which are also available on Komoot, to start tours directly from the hotel. In addition, both the APIPURA hotel rinner and the Weihrerhof offer two free guided e-bike tours per week.

The Paradiso Pure. Living Vegan Hotel and the ADLER Spa Resorts (Ritten and Sicily) also provide their guests with high-quality e-bikes that are regularly and professionally serviced. The surroundings of the Paradiso Pure. Living Vegan Hotel offers a variety of routes, from sporty and challenging to relaxed. Particularly noteworthy are the trails in the Seiser Alm, which lead through impressive Dolomite landscapes and are ideal for extended e-bike tours. Both the ADLER Lodge RITTEN and the ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA regularly organize e-bike tours with local guides. If you prefer to explore on your own, you can use the ADLER app, which includes tour recommendations with elevation profiles and route descriptions.
At OLM Nature Escape in Sand in Taufers, many guests arrive by e-bike and bicycle. That is why the eco-aparthotel offers an extensive bike depot with a bike wash, lockers, and a workshop. OLM is also represented on platforms such as Outdooractive and shows guests suitable tours.

E-Mobility in the Alps of the DACH Region
The Alpine regions of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland offer a wide range of activities for bike and e-bike enthusiasts. At the Biohotel Grafenast (Austria), those seeking relaxation can join guided tours or borrow mountain-compatible e-bikes free of charge and plan an individual tour. The Grafenast has also added “Bike & Hike” tours to its activities program, which are becoming increasingly popular.
The Klosterhof – Alpine Hideaway & Spa in the Bavarian Alps and the CERVO Mountain Resortin Zermatt offer their own e-bike rentals as well as numerous guided nature tours, such as the Stellisee Sunset E-Bike Tour in Zermatt. The tour offers guests the opportunity to visit the Stellisee and enjoy the sunset in peace, outside of the operating hours of the mountain railways. CERVO in Zermatt goes one step further and rewards eco-conscious behavior by offering a free drink to any guest who visits the terrace wearing a bike helmet.

In Tenerife, the OCÉANO Health Spa Hotel allows guests to explore the north of the island on their own. The hotel offers a convenient delivery and pick-up service for e-bikes, which can be rented from a local supplier at the reception. The northern part of the island is known for its mountainous landscape, and e-bikes are the perfect way to experience the scenery without overexerting yourself.
Guests at the Relais del Maro Albergo Diffuso in Liguria can also rent e-bikes. This is a relaxing way to explore the mountainous interior of Liguria.

E-Bike or Classic Bike? Both are available here.
Many sustainable hotels and accommodations offer both e-bikes and conventional bicycles for cyclists. For example, Naturresort Gerbehof in Friedrichshafen, Germany, welcomes many guests each year who bring e-bikes. Hotel STURM, in the foothills of the Rhön, focuses more on off-road bikes but offers a secure bike box for guests traveling with their own e-bikes, where they can charge them for free. Gut Guntrams also has an e-bike rental service, but most guests arrive with their own bikes – about a third of which are e-bikes. The hotel also offers a laundry service for sportswear and water bottles.
The Lifestylehotel SAND on Germany’s Baltic coast has also seen an increase in the number of guests with their own bicycles and e-bikes. For all others, a fleet of non-motorized myBoo rental bikes is available. Charging stations are also planned.
The Hotel Bella Vista in Zermatt has a lockable bike room with charging and washing facilities for both electric and non-electric bikes.
For those who don’t want to ride their e-bike in the mountains, Hotel Okelmann’s in Lower Saxony offers relaxed bike tours, a secure bike room for all bikes, and Komoot tour suggestions that start right at the hotel.
E-Bikes in Sustainable Tourism
Sustainable tourism with e-bikes is growing in popularity as an environmentally friendly, healthy, and flexible alternative to conventional mobility options. Sustainable hotels are encouraging this development with offerings such as dedicated e-bike rentals, guided tours, and detailed route recommendations. These initiatives not only support sustainable tourism but also strengthen local economies by relying on local suppliers.
The use of e-bikes is a key component of sustainable tourism. It combines environmental friendliness, health benefits, and flexibility, making it ideal for hotels that want to minimize their environmental footprint while offering memorable experiences.
