Many people think of Stena Line as a Ferry to get to the mainland. But believe it or not, it has some amazing deals on top of the usual great service and reliability.

One such deal is the Glasgow Day Trip.

Embarking on a day trip to Glasgow with Stena Line is a brilliant way to enjoy a change of scenery without the hassle of planning an overnight stay or the driving fatigue that comes with it.

Your adventure begins at check-in at the Stena Terminal at Fortwilliam docks.

The moment you step aboard the ferry, you realise this is a place where you can relax and take in the sea views from the comfort of the bar, Taste restaurant, Barista coffee house, or even unwind in the Pure Nordic Spa.

If you fancy even more luxury, you could try the Stena Plus Lounge, where you’ll enjoy a dedicated waiter service, Stena Plus menu, as well as complimentary drinks and snacks. Charges apply, but it’s well worth it. If total relaxation is your thing, try the Hygge Recline Lounge. It is a calm space with comfy reclined chairs, soft tones and lighting and large (muted) TVs. This is the place to laze, read a book and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee.

To ensure a relaxed atmosphere, the Hygge Recline Lounge welcomes guests aged eight and over; again, charges apply, but oh, the luxury is amazing. The sailing itself is smooth and takes just over two hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the onboard facilities, grab a bite to eat, or simply watch the world go by. When on board, you’ll find a variety of facilities designed to make your journey as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

During the 2-hour 15-minute crossing, you can unwind in the bar, treat yourself to a meal at the Taste restaurant, or grab a speciality coffee at the Barista coffee house. For those seeking extra relaxation, the Pure Nordic Spa offers a tranquil escape at sea.

If you need to stay connected, there are several Wi-Fi packages available, and I can tell you it’s great WIFI.

Once you arrive at Cairnryan, you disembark as a foot passenger, and a comfortable coach is waiting for you at the terminal entrance. The CITILINK coach whisks you straight into the heart of Glasgow’s city centre in just 2 and a

half hours.

Glasgow

Stena Line Day Trip Glasgow

The city offers a vibrant mix of things to do—whether you’re keen on shopping along Buchanan Street, exploring world-class art galleries and museums, or sampling delicious dishes in the city’s lively restaurants. The flexible schedule gives you the freedom to tailor your afternoon to your own interests, making it easy to fit in as much or as little as you like before heading back.

RELAXING JOURNEY

Overall, it’s a relaxed and great value way to experience all that Glasgow has to offer in just one day. For me, there were just two stops in Glasgow. The John Lewis Store on Buchanan Street and the Burrell Collection at Pollock Park.
To get from Glasgow city centre to the Burrell Collection, you have a few convenient options:

Stena Line Day Trip
The Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park

By Bus

  • Bus 38: You can catch the First Bus 38 from Buchanan Bus Station or along Sauchiehall Street. Get off at Pollokshaws Road near Pollok Park, then walk through the park to the Burrell Collection.
  • Bus 57/57A: These also serve the area near Pollok Park.

By Train

  • Train from Glasgow Central: Take a train from Glasgow Central Station to Pollokshaws West station. The journey takes about 10 minutes. From Pollokshaws West, it’s a short walk (about 10–15 minutes) through Pollok Country Park to the Burrell Collection.

By Taxi or Rideshare

  • A taxi or rideshare from the city centre will take around 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Tip: The Burrell Collection is located within Pollok Country Park, so allow a little extra time for the walk through the park from your bus or train stop. The Burrell Collection is one of the world’s most significant civic museum collections, located in Pollok Country Park, Glasgow. It houses over 9,000 objects spanning 6,000 years of history, making it one of the greatest art collections ever amassed by a single individual. The collection was gifted to the city by Sir William Burrell, a Glasgow shipping magnate, and his wife, Lady Constance Burrell, in 1944. The Museum shop is amazing!! https://burrellcollection.com

But whatever you do and how you spend your afternoon is up to you.
